Piano Series this Sunday!

pianoseriesWe have the distinct pleasure of hosting two of Seattle’s finest musicians, Maria Larionoff (former Seattle Symphony concertmaster) and Professor Robin McCabe (head of UW Piano Studies), on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. for their second installment of “The Beethoven Project” in the campus Theater.

Larionoff and McCabe will inspire audiences with their second of three recital programs in which they are presenting the complete violin and piano sonatas of Beethoven, in a two-year cycle.  (The third recital will take place this spring.)

The SCC Piano Series raises money for student scholarships – all proceeds benefit the Piano Scholarship Fund.  This will be a wonderful concert and a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon.  Please join us!

Dell buyout saga is over…

Dell Inc. is no longer a publicly-traded company. It sealed a $24.9 billion buyout deal that will take the company private. Dell Inc. delisted from the NASDAQ at the close of Tuesday’s trading, as founder Michael Dell and private equity house, Silver Lake completed their controversial buyout of the struggling PC maker. Like its rivals, Dell got sideswiped by the speed of decline in PC sales globally in past years, as consumers increasingly chose to spend on ever-more powerful smartphones and ultra-light tablet computers.   click to read full article   source: CompTIA SmartBrief & Reuters News Agency

Whiskers are coming!

beards more infoIn honor of November (no-shave November/Movember) we are asking all on campus to take part in a beard/mustache growing contest!

The rules are pretty simple.

  • Nov. 1 – Shave
  • Nov. 1-27 – Grow
  • Nov. 27 – Be judged

Simple enough right?

Then shave the date, Nov. 1!

But that’s not all!

penny-wars-more-informationalAlong with this, Shoreline will be in the midst of a penny war to raise fund for prostate cancer awareness. Click on the photo to the right to get more info, or visit today.shoreline.edu/beards.

Ready, Set, Grow!

Happy Trails!

segwaysThe fabulous, fashion-forward, ‘get-it-done’ Ms. Kimberly Chandler and TSS’s extraordinary, ‘leave-no-student-behind’ lab technician, Christopher Domico, will be leaving our beloved Shoreline Community College for new adventures.  I wonder if they’ll need a copy of the ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’?  Smile. (So long and thanks for all the fish!)

Please join the TSS staff on Thursday, 10/31/2013 at 3:00pm, room 4122 for a gathering of folks to wish them good luck and best wishes as they take their next career journey.

Student Services and Activities Committee members needed

The formation of the Student Services and Activities (SS&A) Committee, which oversees funds derived from the school’s largest student fee, is underway. Two open spots must be filled, one faculty member, and one classified staff member.

Joining this committee is a great way to help the Shoreline campus, learn about how student fees are allocated and impact student lives. Meetings are at 2 p.m., every Thursday, beginning Nov. 21 (excluding holidays). The meeting location is to be decided.

For more information, please visit https://echo.shoreline.edu/organization/SSA. In order to login to Echo, use your Shoreline e-mail account information (disregard the part after the “@” symbol). If you are interested in applying, submit an application by accessing the “Forms” tab on the lower left side of the linked page.
