Shoreline featured in a national magazine

Nationally recognized for excellence in international education, Shoreline Community College has been highlighted in the pages of International Educator magazine’s two most recent issues.

International Educator is the flagship magazine of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and is widely read throughout the international education community in the U.S. and around the world.

In the most recent issue, a story on faculty-led study abroad programs opens with a discussion of Shoreline Psychology faculty member Bob Thompson’s long-running Jamaica study abroad program and the benefits to both students and faculty that such programs offer. Cory Anthony, who manages the study abroad programs at Shoreline Community College, is also quoted in the article.

A story on strategic enrollment management and outreach to prospective international students in the issue before that extensively quotes Samira Pardanani, Executive Director for International Education, discussing the complexities of outreach strategy. The story also features a photo of a group of International Peer Mentors, Shoreline students who work to welcome international students and to create and hold events for all Shoreline students.

Open call for art – ALL staff & faculty

DO YOU MAKE ART? READ ON!

If you haven’t received the invite on staff/faculty listservs…

The Shoreline Community College Art Gallery is proud to present an exhibition that celebrates creative visionaries among our staff and faculty from all departments and disciplines (that’s YOU!). Through visual, performing and literary arts, many of us connect with students and our surrounding communities in diverse and inspiring ways or make art just for our own spiritual health. This exhibit honors these big picture thinkers from a variety of fields across campus who participate in artistic practices both in their personal lives and through student engagement.

If you make anything (visual, literary, performance, sound) and would like to be a part of this first-ever staff/faculty exhibition, please email Claire Putney at cputney@shoreline.edu BEFORE 12/18/2018 with the following preliminary information:

Name
Department
Contact (phone & email)
Media
(i.e., painting, film, poetry, fiber arts etc.)

More details to follow once we have a sense of how many of you will be participating.
