Staples (formerly Corporate Express) Administrative Changes

Due to recent staffing changes, Lanay Gard, our Procurement and Supply Specialist in Financial Services, will now be responsible for administration of our Staples (formerly Corporate Express) account. If you need to make changes to authorized users, account structures, or the like, please contact Lanay at lgard@shoreline.edu or on extension 4513.

In addition, some users may have received e-mails over the past several weeks about a new ordering interface and new login information. Staples has since announced that it has decided not to implement the new system at this time.

Rovner is New eLearning Faculty-In-Residence

I am pleased to announce that Amy Rovner is the new eLearning Faculty-In-Residence.  Amy is an Associate faculty member who teaches Nutrition 101 online in Canvas.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and her Masters in Public Health and Nutrition from the University of Washington.  She lives in Seattle with her husband and two sons.

Amy officially starts this fall, but will be helping out with Canvas training this week as eLearning staff attend a Canvas / Instructure conference.  Attached is a picture so you’ll recognize her!

Recent computer issues…

In the last couple of days some campus computer users have experienced an issue with their computer randomly rebooting without warning. TSS believes the problems are likely related to recently released Microsoft updates that are not properly installing. The impacted machines appear to work normal once the reboot has occurred and Windows is re-started or a tech administrator logs in and prompts the updates to install properly.
If you experience any problems, please contact the TSS HelpLine at ext.5872 or tss@shoreline.edu

BETA Launch of the New DAAG

Welcome to the BETA version of the new Day at a Glance. Here at the top of the page, you’ll find the latest announcement, current events and/or deadlines.

The menu just above this column is designed to help faculty and staff engage with, and stay abreast of, the latest discussion and developments related to major strategic initiatives of the college.

At the very top of this page, you’ll find additional menu options for the most viewed pages on the intranet as well as other useful links.

Please offer feedback by commenting on this post. Any and all constructive criticism (or praise) will be appreciated.

Please note: the comments function on this post and others is intentionally left on to promote discussion and ease of communication among faculty and staff. While this site will be visited almost exclusively by Shoreline employees, it is still a public webpage on the internet and is discoverable by search engines. This is not a private space. Therefore, please bear that in mind as you engage in discussion. Your words and tone will be representing both yourself, and the college, on the worldwide web.

Power Outage Reminder

As a reminder, on Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday, June 15, 16, 17 & 18, there is a planned power outage. The transformer that services the 1000, 1100, 1200, & 1300 buildings is being replaced (the old one is original to the building constructed in 1965). The 1000 building electrical panels are also being replaced and a new emergency generator has been installed that will service the 1000 building only during a future power outage, should one occur. As a result, these four buildings will be without power on these four days. An emergency generator will be set up to provide power to the main phone room in the 1000 building so phone service is not interrupted.

The power outage has some impacts to the college operation on Monday & Tuesday, June 17 & 18, especially those who work in the 1000 & 1200 buildings and those who need to meet and/or contact staff in these two buildings. As a result, temporary accommodations have been arranged for personnel in the 1000 & 1200 buildings. Please see this list showing Temporary Staff Locations. That document will show room numbers where you can find them during the power outage and identify personnel who will be off campus on those two days.

I will be posting signage to further communicate the planned power outage, along with sending this notice out to various listserves.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation during this needed infrastructure improvement.
