Important: Campus power outage Mon. Aug. 5 to Tues. Aug. 6

Shoreline’s campus will be closed and without electrical power from 5 p.m. on Monday, August 5 until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, due to Seattle City Light’s work on the student residence hall.

  • Campus Access – Monday evening classes after 5 p.m. are canceled and there will be no access to any campus services or buildings (including the library) after 5 p.m.
  • Technology – The campus computer network, phones, website, and Canvas should remain available, however, as a precaution, employees are asked to save all computer files and turn off their computers by 5 p.m. on Monday
  • Refrigeration – Employees are asked to remove any perishable food or medications from campus refrigerators by 5 p.m. on Monday
  • Work Schedules – Classified staff scheduled to work during any part of this suspended operations closure will not be required to make up the time, per compliance with the collective bargaining agreement
  • Campus Grounds – Safety & Security will have additional personnel patrolling the grounds and monitoring buildings after dark, as well as directing traffic away from campus after 5 p.m.

Thank you for your patience as this important utility work is completed. The College website will be updated on Tuesday morning when power is restored. If you have any questions related to the closure, please contact Jason Francois, Director of Facilities, jfrancois@shoreline.edu.

Lynda.com is now Linkedin Learning

LinkedIn is a networking site designed specifically for the business community. However, with the merger of Lynda.com and its extensive video training content, their professional training division called “Linkedin Learning” continues to help grow and develop current technology, business, and creative skills that everyone can benefit from in their careers.

Shoreline Community College has the same educational access to these excellent training tools as we had with Lynda.com and wants to help you build your professional skills. Students, faculty & staff do not have to have a “Linkedin” account nor do they have to bind to a “personal Linkedin account” to use the site.

If prompted, just follow the specific sign-in instructions to continue, “Without connecting” to my Linkedin account.

Please access your account via https://www.linkedin.com/learning

As before, click the “Sign in with your organization account” then enter your Student, Faculty or Staff email credentials and password.

If you have further questions, please see the “Linkedin Learning Login Instructions” on the left side of the Technology Support Services page on the SCC website.

Happy Learning!

A message from TSS: No need to power off at night

Just a reminder from the TSS office that with today’s desktop computers, there is no need to power them off at night. Actually, this is when most of the software updates are scheduled to run with Microsoft and others to keep your computer running at top efficiency. So shutting the computer down can cause more issues than it helps.

Simply sign out of your account and go home at the end of your workday.
