King County Metro Lunch & Learn this Fri., Oct. 30

King County Metro is focused on making changes and improvements in North Seattle, U-District, Shoreline, Bothell, Kenmore, and Lake Forest Park. In all, changes to about 40 bus routes are under consideration to better connect riders across the region and take advantage of Link light rail expansion to new stations opening in fall 2021 at Northgate, Roosevelt, and U District.

Now is the time to give King County Metro your final round of feedback before they take a recommendation to the County Council for consideration. Please join the Students, Equity & Success office and King County Metro on October 30th at 12:00 pm to discuss the proposed bus changes for new Link light rail stations coming to north Seattle.

Join a Strategic Planning Steering Committee

Dear Colleague,

As the College enters the final year of our five-year Strategic Plan, employees are invited to apply to join a Strategic Plan steering committee in 2020-21 to help recommend actions and advance the plan’s final goals.

The committees accepting new members are:

  • Communication, Marketing & Community Engagement Steering Committee
  • Inclusive Excellence Steering Committee
  • Learning Outcomes Assessment Steering Committee
  • Sustainability Steering Committee (formerly known as the Ecological Integrity Steering Committee)

If you’d like to serve on one of these committees, please complete the online application by Monday, November 9, 2020.

The application process is simple and asks you to share briefly (in 250 words or less) what knowledge, skills, and abilities you will bring to your committee. Employees do not need to check with their supervisor before applying. The Executive Team will coordinate with supervisors as necessary during the selection process.

Thank you for considering this important opportunity!

Sincerely,

Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.
President

Generate Waves: We need the good news

The Waves of Gratitude Committee would like to remind all faculty and staff that there is a wonderful way to share some of the excellent work happening in and around our campus community.

Have you been supported by someone who went above and beyond to get the job done? Sharing your experience and offering kudos to those involved helps to paint a picture of work life in and around SCC our campus that may otherwise go unnoticed by others outside our departments.

Sharing is easy, simply go to https://shoreline.formstack.com/forms/scc_recognition and tell us some details. The coworkers you recognize will appreciate it and so will the rest of us.

October 15 Zoom Hall Responses & Recording

Dear Colleague,

Thank you for attending our most recent Zoom Hall Budget Meeting on October 15. I know these are extremely trying times and I appreciate your willingness to seek out information and stay engaged in these difficult conversations.

Here is the video recording of the meeting, the Powerpoint presentation (with corrected percentages on Slide 9), as well as the written responses to the questions we were not able to address within the meeting time.

We will reconvene for another Zoom Hall Budget Meeting on October 29, after the Board of Trustees holds their meeting on October 28.

Respectfully,

Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.
President
