The Washington ACT Transforming Lives Awards recognize current or former students whose lives have been transformed by attending a Washington state community or technical college (CTC).
Please nominate a current or former student for the ACT’s 2022 Transforming Lives Awards. For more information or questions: Lori Yonemitsu lyonemitsu@shoreline.edu
The Foundation is hosting its 24th Annual Student Success Fundraiser on Nov 4th. It will be a virtual event that will be broadcast on YouTube. As this is a virtual event, our success will be built on Sponsorships and funds raised at Impact Parties!
What is an Impact Party you ask? It is a live or virtual event that you host for a group of friends/family where you come together to watch the event and make donations live. We would love for you to host an Impact Party! Please see the attached invitation for details.

The more Impact Parties hosted by Shoreline staff and community members the more students we can serve. The Foundation provided over $400,000 to 399 students in the 2020-2021 academic year!

This week we will be welcoming Yvonne Ortiz from AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) for Higher Education (AHE). Yvonne is our AHE coach and will be coming to campus on Wednesday, May 11th and Thursday, May 12th.
The purpose of Yvonne’s visit is for her to learn about Shoreline’s key projects and future plans related to student success. In her two days here, Yvonne will engage in conversations with faculty and staff from instruction and student services. As our AHE coach, she can apply her wealth of experience and expertise to help us enhance and support our student success efforts. Yvonne’s visit provides an excellent opportunity for us to reflect on the work we have accomplished over the year and how to move forward even more effectively.
There are also two scheduled open sessions (below), as well as scheduled meetings with key groups throughout the visit.

Dear Campus:
The Shoreline Early Alert (SEA) team would like to thank staff and faculty for continuing to refer students to academic intervention, support, and services! We are currently at over 160 (domestic and international) SEA referrals…that’s over double where we were at this point last quarter! Thank you for continuing to support our students and connecting them to resources.
Since an early alert works best when it’s early, this is a reminder that May 9th is the last day a “W” grade is issued, so there is still time to refer students for intervention. Examples of SEA referrals include:
What happens next:
After our team receives a referral a member will work to respond within 24 hours to both you and the student. We continue to reach out to the student in order to set up an initial meeting where we assess the student’s needs and most appropriate resources. *REMINDER: Intervention is a process and may not produce immediate results. Our goal is to reach out to the student early in the quarter and connect them to the appropriate resources.*
Visit our site to learn more about SEA or to view our Referral Form.
We look forward to continuing to work with you and to support our students!
Thanks,
Nicki Sunwall, Erin Wilson, Lianne Almughirah, Jennifer Coogan
