STEVE HANSON APPOINTED AS INTERIM PRESIDENT

At the October 27, 2021, special meeting, the Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees identified the College’s next leader to serve in the Interim President appointment. Effective November 15, 2021, through June 30, 2022,  Steve Hanson will serve as Interim President of Shoreline Community College, while the College completes a national search for the next permanent President.

Interim President Hanson shared that “It is an honor and privilege to serve as Shoreline Community College’s interim president. I look forward to working in partnership with Shoreline’s remarkable faculty and staff as we continue our shared commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching and learning, student success, and community engagement.”

Interim President Hanson joins the College after a robust selection process which included a campus open forum, and interviews with constituency leads and two Board of Trustee members. With over thirty years of administrative and teaching experience including positions as President, Executive Vice President for Instruction, Dean, Division Chair, and Department Head, the College looks forward to welcoming Interim President Hanson to an executive leadership role.

Presidential Search Process Underway

The recruitment for the next President of Shoreline Community College has begun. The position profile, which includes a description of the opportunity, the qualifications for the position, and the application process, can be viewed online.


The search committee welcomes and encourages nominations and suggestions from the College community which can be sent in complete confidence to ShorelinePresident@academicsearch.org. The position is open until filled, but only applications received by January 2, 2022, will be assured full consideration.


To encourage a deep and diverse pool of highly qualified individuals, the identities of candidates will remain confidential throughout the process until the finalist interviews.

2021-22 Presidential Search Process

The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees announces a national search is underway for the next president of Shoreline Community College. The Board will start the formal search process in November. Selection is planned to occur by March 2022, and the new President is expected to take office in July 2022.

The Presidential screening committee is composed of representation from across the student, classified staff, faculty, and administrative constituency groups at Shoreline including participation from community members and two Trustees from the College Board. The screening committee, chaired by classified staff member Tirzah Williamson, will support the collaborative search process to find the next visionary leader for our College.

The Board is seeking a new President who will build on Shoreline Community College’s track record of sustained success that has made it the learning destination for students seeking a high quality and affordable education, and a valuable partner in building economic prosperity for the greater Shoreline community. The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates a collaborative and forward-thinking mindset, exceptional vision, inclusive style, and extraordinarily positive energy.
