Commencement Ceremony Volunteers Needed
This is an exciting time of year for our students and it takes the efforts of many to create our Commencement ceremony. We are putting out a call for volunteers to serve as ushers, help with parking, and support for overflow rooms, as well as others to help set up before and/or clean up after the reception that follows the ceremony on Thursday, June 20th at 8:00 pm.
Ushers are also asked to attend the beginning of the rehearsal on Wednesday, June 19th at 4:00 p.m. The time commitment on Wednesday would be approximately 30 minutes and Thursday would be approximately 3-4 hours. Classified staff will need to get approval from their supervisor to volunteer for the ceremony. Due to the Commencement Ceremony occurring within the work week, staff are encouraged to work with their supervisors to flex the time within the week.
Show your continued support for students by helping them celebrate this special day in their lives. If you are planning to volunteer, please fill out this form.
Those who volunteer will hear back with more details about Commencement day itself. If you have questions, please feel free to email spearce@shoreline.edu.
East Campus Road Repaving June 4-7
The asphalt on the East Road behind FOSS (Building 5000) and the Gym (Building 3000) will be repaved over the course of three days, between June 4-7. During this time, there will be some fumes localized near the site, similar to any asphalt road pavement work.
If you or your students have any sensitivities to this odor, here are steps you can take:
- Employees: Any employees needing an alternate workspace during the repaving work should contact Human Resources to request accommodations (scchr@shoreline.edu, 206-546-5880).
- Students: Students received this same email notification today, with instructions for them to contact their individual instructors for assistance with accommodations. Any faculty members who have questions about accommodating student needs may contact Student Accessibility Services (sas@shoreline.edu, 206-546-4545).
Please note some ADA parking spaces in this area will be relocated between June 4-12 to temporary locations in the visitor’s lot, PUB loading dock area, adjacent to the PUB dumpster area, and west of Building 4000. Please contact Safety & Security for any parking questions (206-546-4633).
We understand this work may present an inconvenience to the campus community. The crews are working as quickly as possible to reopen the roadway and all nearby lots by June 12. Thank you for your patience while we work to improve this important roadway for all.
