Shoreline Reopening Weekly Update

Dear Shoreline Staff,

As we near the end of week two of the fall quarter, I am sending along our thanks and appreciation for continuing to navigate the COVID space that still has some hold on us. This week’s communication includes COVID updates, and general college announcements and reminders.

COVID Signage:

COVID Signage is attached and can be printed and placed within your office area. The College will ensure appropriate signage is posted in all classrooms. Only departments offering Core Services should utilize the attached sign.

Attestation:

A reminder that all in-person students need to complete the vaccination attestation form or request an exemption. Please direct them to this link to complete the form. If students do not complete the attestation by the deadline of October 18th, the student’s account will be flagged for a hold. Such holds will restrict registration of classes and other important student functions.

Communications & Marketing (C & M):

The C&M Department has a different look! Crystal Berry will be taking over the Director of Marketing role through June 30, 2022. All communications that were directed to Martha, should now be directed to crystal.berry@shoreline.edu

One of the first goals Crystal and team have been tasked with is reviewing and auditing communications pathways to better assess and utilize the resources within the college, with the highest consideration given to the end-user (staff, student, etc.). As such she will be reaching out to all of campus.  The current processes for submitting C&M requests will continue stay in place at this time. We will be refining our ticket submission process to ensure your engagement with C&M is more productive and that your needs are met in a timely fashion. We will continue to share all updated process changes as they occur.

Thank you for supporting a healthy and safe campus!

Online Verification/Attestation Sessions

Dear Colleagues,

As shared previously in messages to our campus community, all College employees (regardless of work modality) must complete the online attestation form regarding their vaccination status, as well provide proof of vaccination. As a reminder, employees who are requesting a medical or religious exemption must still complete the online attestation form as well as submit documentation to HR to begin an interactive dialogue regarding the exemption and accommodation process.

The attestation and proof of vaccination to Human Resources must be completed no later than October 18, 2021 or the employee’s first day back on campus, whichever occurs first.

The validation of vaccination documentation will be conducted one-on-one with a Human Resources staff member, either online or in-person.  Please be ready to show the following items:

  • Photo identification
  • Proof of vaccination*
    • CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Card or photo of the card; or
    • Documentation of vaccination from a health care provider or electronic health card; or
    • State immunization record; or
    • Employees vaccinated outside the U.S. may show a reasonable equivalent of these documents

The following times are available to briefly connect with Human Resources to show proof of vaccination.

Monday, October 11, 2:00pm-2:45pm – ONLINE

*Please note, at this time the College is not required to, nor does it plan to keep copies of vaccination documents.

If you would like to schedule a specific time to complete your verification, please contact hr@shoreline.edu.

Questions regarding this information or other items related to the vaccination attestation requirement can be directed to hr@shoreline.edu at any time.

AANAPISI Grant Director Welcome

The College is pleased to announce, not only about our excitement regarding the Five-Year Title III, AANAPISI grant, but also about the hiring of the director for that role. Chitpasong Bello has accepted the position of Director, AANAPISI Program and will begin on November 1, 2021.

Chitpasong Bello, or affectionately known as Chippi, has more than 25 years of higher education experiences in the private and public sectors as well as community colleges and four-year institutions. She was previously an Associate Dean of Financial Aid at Clark College. Before coming to Clark, Chippi worked almost 20 years at Clackamas Community College (CCC) serving in various positions including Director of Financial Aid and Operations Manager. She has also served as a Federal Program Manager at Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYU-H) Campus. In addition to her administrative roles, Chippi is an adjunct professor at various institutions.

In her leadership capacity, she has played a significant role in the growth and expansion of numerous programs. She expanded the scholarship opportunities at CCC, created the One-Stop and Call Center, increased enrollment using the Strategic Enrollment Management approach, created a Financial Aid Outreach Strategic Plan, diversified the college workforce through intentional hiring, and coordinated with fellow institutional leaders to implement a college-wide new technology system (i.e., Datatel and PeopleSoft), Academic Plan, Guided Pathways, and a Social Equity Plan. She was also a Project Manager for the FIPSE Grant at CCC. Recently, she helped develop and launch an effective Emergency Grant program that included the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds.

Please join us in welcoming Chitpasong Bello to SCC!
