In-Person Services on Campus for Fall 2021

Dear Shoreline Faculty and Staff,

As we have been communicating with you, we will be a vaccinated campus as of September 7 and are moving forward with a gradual re-opening of services. We are doing this in as thoughtful and deliberative manner as possible taking many factors into consideration, including, but not limited to, student needs, health and safety, state requirements and guidelines, and benchmarking with area colleges. Toward those ends, and as we approach fall quarter, we are adopting a phased approach to resuming in-person services.

Beginning Monday, September 13, the College will resume core in-person services in a limited capacity (General Guidelines: at least 1 classified staff member providing service during campus open hours). The physical campus will be open from 8-5 M-Th, and 8-12 on Friday. Core in-person services will include:

  • Advising
  • Athletics
  • Bookstore
  • Classroom Support Services
  • Counseling
  • Curbside Pick-Up/Drop-Off
  • Enrollment Services and Financial Aid
  • Facilities
  • Financial Services/Cashiers
  • Foundation
  • Human Resources
  • International Education
  • Library
  • Outreach and Recruitment
  • Parent Child Center
  • Printing Services
  • Residential Life
  • Safety and Security
  • Student Accessibility Services
  • Veterans Services
  • Testing and Assessment
  • TSS

Note: While the expectation is that most of the above services will be open to students during College business hours, there may be limited exceptions for smaller units. We will share more details as plans are finalized.

To facilitate this limited in-person re-opening, Admin/Exempt staff are required to work on campus at least 3 days a week beginning September 7, 2021. In addition, as we have previously communicated, 20-25% of fall classes will be offered in a hybrid modality. If there are classified staff or faculty requests to work more regularly on campus (beyond what has already been approved), please discuss those requests with your supervisor who can forward to their ET member for a decision by ET. For any immediate questions regarding a legitimate medical exemption related to the nature of in-person support, please reach out to Human Resources by email at scchr@shoreline.edu

As always, thank you for your flexibility and continued support of students as we aim to find a safe and balanced approach to transitioning core operations back to campus.

Sincerely,

Phillip J. King

Acting President

Shoreline Fire Training Exercise on Campus August 28, 29

Colleagues,

Please consider this notification that the Shoreline Fire Department and partnering agencies will be on campus conducting training in Building 2500. This training will be destructive as this building has been prepped for demolition. Training opportunities such as this are rare, and we are happy to facilitate it in the spirit of the Fire Department being as prepared as possible to respond to our campus and the Shoreline community.

You will see numerous Fire Department vehicles and personnel around and in Building 2500, please do not call 911.

If you have any questions, please contact me at gcranson@shoreline.edu.

Respectfully,

Gregory Cranson

Acting Director of Safety & Security
