The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting (“Day 1-Board of Trustees Summer 2022 Retreat”) on Thursday, August 11, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM in room 1010M (the “Board Room”) in building 1000 (the “Administration building). The business to be transacted in this meeting is attached and will be published to https://www.shoreline.edu/about-shoreline/board/meeting-packets-2018.aspx.

The August 11, 2022, special meeting will be recorded and the video, available, when Board materials are posted for the next regular meeting on October 26, 2022.

• For attendees connecting online: Please sign up to provide a public comment via the Chat function in Zoom between 8:45 AM–9:00 AM on August 11, 2022.

The Board Chair will call upon each speaker signed up to provide public comment. The total public comment period at the August 11, 2022 meeting will be no more than ten (10) minutes with up to two (2) minutes allotted per speaker. Adjustments to the two (2) minute allotment will be made if more than five (5) individuals sign up to speak. Electrical shutdown on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, beginning at 7am and ending by 5pm

Dear Campus Community, 

Below are the IT areas that will be affected during the electrical shutdown on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, beginning at 7am and ending by 5pm.   

  • Server room-based systems will be connected to generators on the 1000 and 4000 buildings.  Hosted systems such as the college websites, Canvas, Outlook, and ctcLink will be unaffected 
  • Campus computer labs will be unavailable to students, including remote access to lab systems, such as Splashtop.  
  • Employees will not have Remote Desktop access to their desktops but can use VPN to access file shares or the Report Server if needed 
  • Wi-Fi will not be available on campus 
  • Computers are configured to restart automatically when power is restored, though sometimes one or two may need to be manually restarted 

Building 7000 will be unaffected.

Campus Updates 08/04/22

Hi Campus Community,

Here are this week’s updates!

EVENTS AND NEWS  

Message from the President: 

Hey folks, hope you are having a great week so far!  This past week I have been able to meet more representatives of the Shoreline community.  It’s been great learning about all the great work staff and faculty are engaged in. Diane Dotter and met with the City of Shoreline’s Mayor and City Manager.  There are some exciting projects that the city is engaged in, and some that SCC could be a great partner in. Stay tuned for details!   I was also able to participate in the film excitement (see below for details).  

Fall Quarter Planning 

  • Monday-Thursdays 8 am-5 pm, Friday 8am – 4:30pm: all services will be available in person, as well as online.  
  • Employee Work Schedules: 
  • Administrative/exempt, classified staff, and non-instructional faculty will return to on-campus work for their regularly scheduled work shifts.  
  • Faculty will have an increased on-campus presence with the return to predominantly in-person instruction, office hours, and events.  
  • Campus Cleaning:  
  • Returning to pre-COVID 19 cleaning standards in Fall 2022 means the College will provide the same level of reliable custodial services currently delivered but without the additional sanitizing measures previously required by local, state, and federal offices following the pandemic-driven closure two years ago.  However, the College will retain a number of public health practices that were put into place in response to COVID-19, including the availability of hand sanitizers, masks, and wipe dispensers throughout all our buildings. 
  • For the duration of Fall Quarter 2022, parking permits will not be required for the general populations of staff, students, and visitors. Parking permits will be required, but provided free of charge, for Building 7000 residents. Parking and traffic citations will still be issued in the event of illegal parking, hazardous parking, reckless driving, and in the Parent-Child Center designated areas

A huge thanks to all those who made it possible, including Business & Administrative Services, Classroom Support Services, Communications & Marketing, Facilities, the Film Department, Human Resources, Nursing/Health Occupations, Rentals, Safety & Security, and the STEM Division. Washington Filmworks, a non-profit organization that promotes the film industry in Washington State, interviewed President Jack Kahn and Film Professors Tony Doupe and Duygu Monson about this high-profile event.

HSAMCC – Update

Progress Updates

  • During May and June, construction work and activities included the following:
    • All underground storm, plumbing, electrical, drainage, and water lines under the building were completed.
    • Underground waterproof and dampproof activities completed.
    • All concrete footings and slab on grade were completed. This was a major milestone for the project.
    • Protection board over slab on grade where finishes call out for polished was installed for the 1st floor.
    • Site electrical conduit on North of building for lighting and other power needs was installed.
    • The infiltration pond at the Greenwood lot was mostly completed. This pond will eventually collect stormwater from the site, allowing the silts to settle before making their way back to Boeing creek.
    • Progress of the stand-alone mockup for the exterior of the building continues to take shape.
    • Structural steel arrived, was organized, and installation began in late June. This was also a big milestone for the project and is the critical path for the project.
    • Site electrical underground work on road East side of the project and towards the PUB has begun creating rerouting for traffic and temporary road closures.
    • Interior signage and donor sign design progress continue to evolve.
    • Furniture design and selection of products also continue to make progress.
    • Next few months the project will continue to work on structural steel and major structure activities. The next big milestones for the months ahead include:
      • Pouring concrete floors for L2 and L3.
      • Roof structure completion.
      • Kickoff meeting to begin discussions for move logistics of the buildings that will be demolished in Phase II.
  • The critical path and the completion date tracking for a Summer/Fall 2023 building completion.
  • Notices regarding road closures, loud work, shutdowns, or interruptions continue to be shared with the Faculty and Staff, and the College’s campus neighbors.
